I've been keeping up this routine for about 6 months and it is a lot better than what I used to use...still...no miracles :( and I still have to use a primer before I apply foundation and set my make up with an oil control setting spray. I have to say I am very happy with this routine and I am not looking to change anything (except for a few things I mention below that are sub par) unless my skin flips out or someone recommends something else ;).
These are the products I have been using in the order I use them in:
1. Exfoliate: Lush Ocean Salt
- I use this 2-3x's a week when I am in the shower. It leaves my skin feeling extremely clean and helps control blemishes.
2. Cleanse: Aveeno Foaming Cleanser
- This is by far the best cleanser for my skin that I have tried...and I have tried A LOT!
- I use two pumps morning and night and cleanse for about a minute.
- I used to have a lot of black/white heads on my nose and this is the only thing that ever worked to help keep that under control
3. Serum: Estee Lauder Idealist
- I use this right after I cleanse my skin (1.5pumps) It claims to be an even skin tone illuminator and it has small particles of shimmer. It is not noticeable once you apply everything else to your skin.
- I have to say it is not my favorite...I find that the original one is thicker and gives me a more matte finish.
- I am using this because I want to finish it up but I don't see that my skin is more even.
4. Eye's: Origins A Perfect World for Eyes
- I use a pump of this for both eyes using my ring fingers and tap it gently all around the eye area.
- This is not my favorite eye cream but it works for now.
- I tried the Mac Water Charged eye cream and I like that much more...will buy again once this one finishes.
5. Moisturize: Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer
- I ♥ this moisturizer! I use one pump..sometimes even less...all over my face and neck in the morning.
- It doesn't feel greasy and settles in to the skin nicely.
- Zero breakouts!
6. Sunscreen: Dior Snow UV Shield
- This is by far the most expensive skin care item I own :/...BUT its well worth it. Most of us now know the importance of SPF and all the ones I have tried from the drugstore are GREASY, StickY, and ThiCK!!!!!!!!!
- This one however is so light and sinks right in to my skin without making me break out. I use this after step 5 and let it settle in before using a makeup primer or foundation.
- I wish of course there was a less expensive alternative and my mom recently bought one from Neutrogena called Age Shield with SPF 70... I tried some on my hand and I have to say i was impressed. The drugstore might be stepping up their game with sunscreen. I will definitely keep an eye out for a replacement. ;)
